APPENZELLER INT'L

Bringing Back the Popular Completely New - Appenzeller Anime Night

Watching movies and TV series is a great way for students to unwind after a long day of classes, quizzes, assignments, exams, and the like. This is a well-known fact among Appenzeller International House students, who have turned out in large numbers to participate in Appenzeller Anime Night for the past four semesters. This time, excitement was fuelled by a shift in venue to the multimedia rooms in the library. The new location allowed students to view their anime in the UML Library Theatre together!

This was Appenzeller International House’s first offline Anime Night!

This semester, students were allowed to choose which anime they wanted to watch by voting anonymously through KakaoTalk. The anime that ended up winning the most votes, titled “Belle” is known for its beautiful soundtrack, which students enjoyed hearing through the state of the art UML Library Theatre speakers (it sure beats watching movies on a laptop).  It is safe to assume the cinematic experience heightened the emotions conveyed by the picture.

The fact that it was the first time students were able to enjoy anime together meant the program’s atmosphere was warm and welcoming from the very start. Students were able to meet their peers and share their love of similar media, while also feeling much more comfortable than they had been on Zoom—chatting on Zoom was never the same. This time, they could be themselves in a fully immersive community activity.

It seems Anime Night will only get more and more popular among the students with the use of the UML Library Theatre!
