APPENZELLER INT'L

Embarking on an Adventure to Remember – Korea 101

Travelling abroad is fun, but difficult. There are many factors to consider, like language, manners, how to deal with emergencies, and more. The difficulty is much greater when someone makes the choice to move abroad, as the number of day to day responsibilities are multiplied. Most foreign residents are eager to learn how to stand on their own two feet, while also learning more about their new home in a fun and dynamic environment. Appenzeller International House’s “Korea 101” is intended to address both wishes!

Designed to make their transition to life in Korea easier, Korea 101 gave overseas students a sense of what it means to be here as a long-term resident. Guided by RAs Suvi and Jinho, students were given tips on which places to visit and what games to play (like Gonggi). Participants were also shown a glimpse of the traditional experiences they could have during their time here. They were also given some advice on which mobile applications they could download for everyday use. Moreover, students learning some useful etiquette to help them navigate relationships and interactions with people outside Yonsei, which will surely help them in the long run!

By participating in this event, students were also able to meet their neighbors. Together, they can visit the recommended places, play the games that were taught to them, or simply navigate life in Korea.
